will Iphone survive in india?

Hi, After seeing all the comments over the net..i feel there are lot of wrong sentiments abt iphone in india.i Personally use a first gen(2.5G) iphone in india. Here are some things we can do on a jailbroken iphone or iphone with appstore(i have both).
1. yes , video recording is possible with third party apps.(presently the app is not available for 2.0, but soon will).
2. iphone 2mp camera is way better than, thanks to the big viewfinder, the whole screen(3.5" screen) picture.
3. Mp3 ringtones are possible in jailbroken iphone(jail breaking is very simple).
4. Nextversion 2.1 has copy-paste support.
Iphone has some features where mainstream high end indian mobile users never heard of(trust me, i was clueless before i got my hands on iphone)
1. it has accelerometer, play super monkey ball with iphone, u will know.
2. a very good stock app, which updates your stock symbols with yahoo finance.
3. a very good mail client, accessing your mails never been so easy.
4. full html desktop browser(can you guys tell me one phone which has full html browser. Opera mini is crap)
and one more things for apple haters, Can you tell one company which releases a phone and keeps updating the firmware( i myself updated 4 times, and each update brings new features).

Iphone 3G launch in Norway-Height of Madness

Netcom(service provider for norway) threw a launch party where 400-500 guests were invited. In this party they gave away 200 "skip the line" tickets. They dropped 200 ballons on the crowd and each ballon represented one guaranteed iPhone. The result was total chaos which you'll see in this video from the event:

Iphone 3G reviews..reviews..reviews..everywhere

The first iPhone 3G reviews are in from the reporters who have had early access to the iPhone 3G for the past two weeks. While I encourage you to read their reviews in full, I've highlighted some interesting tidbits:

Walt Mossberg / AllThingsD

- "it mostly keeps its promises."
- "more capable version of an already excellent device"
- Battery drained much more quickly using 3G
- Greatly improved audio, much louder speaker
- Data speeds 3-5x faster than original iPhone
- Better voice coverage with 3G. "At my neighborhood shopping center, where the first iPhone got little or no AT&T service, the iPhone 3G registered strong coverage."

Edward Baig / USA Today

- "iPhone 3G: The Sequel, is worth the wait."
- Still no recording video, no stereo bluetooth or voice dialing
- Supports PowerPoint attachments; mass move or delete multiple e-mail messages
- 10-30 seconds to load popular websites on 3G.
- GPS was very accurate
- Speaker sounded better for both speakerphone and music.
- "started receiving low battery warnings toward the end of a busy work day; I found myself charging the device overnight, the same as with the older iPhone."

David Pogue / NYTimes

- Sound is much improved. "In fact, few cellphones sound this good."
- Feels better in your hand due to the curved back
- "According to Apple, the iPhone’s G.P.S. antenna is much too small to emulate the turn-by-turn navigation of a G.P.S. unit for a vehicle, for example."
- No voice dialing, video recording, copy/paste, memory card slot, Bluetooth stereo, MMS
- "the really big deal is the iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store, neither of which requires buying a new iPhone."

what's special in Iphone?

Everything is special about Iphone ,be it OS or virtual keypad, you name it, Iphone has it in a way you would never thought of. Below is a list of things(technical specs) which other smart phones doesnt have or may be having it old fashioned.
:) Operating System : OS-X(iphone version)
Known as the most intuitive and reliable Operating System in the world, its big brother "OS-X leopard" is giving Vista , a run for its money. Remember those "Get a Mac" ads.
:) Touch Screen : Few Phones have Touch screen but you have to touch with a stick.
Iphone has a true multi-touch..u can rotate, zoom, pan everything with two fingers.
:)Itunes Sync : This may be a new thing to us(atleast for me when i bought iphone). No more searching for music files and copying to your Phone. Let Itunes do it for you, syncing music, movies, contacts and bookmarks.
:)Safari browser : This is what makes iphone very special, a full pledged HTML browser right on your iphone. See the webpage as you see it in your computer. zoom, pan with two fingers. Bye! bye! Wap browser.
:)Ipod..Ipod..Ipod..with lots of memory.

I will Update the feature list when i get some time..now its time to do
a little bit work to my beloved company..(ofcourse...checking my inbox is a big job.)
Dont forget to give your feedback!

iphone 3G launch in india

Both Airtel and Vodaphone are gearing up to the launch of Iphone 3G in India, probably in mid-september. Both are tightlipped about the pricing and contract period, but accepting pre-registration on their respective websites.
Some FACTs about IPHONE 3G in india.
#1. Iphone wont be available for Rs.8000-9000. so stop dreaming .
#2. There is no 3G Network in india, so users have to stick to slow 2G network.
#3. Only for postpaid customers , may be with some contract.
#4. Google maps doesnt have detailed streetview in india. so GPS wont be useful.
I personally looking forward the pricing and data plans of both airtel and vodaphone and its effect in price sensitive Indian Market.
I already have a iphone 2.5G which i bought in USA and unlocked it, and felt better with Airtel mobile office browsing.
Please Add your questions about Iphone 3g in comments section and follow up for answers.
